Twelve Books in Twelve Months

Twelve books in twelve months.  Oh yes.  I’m serious on this one.  So serious, in fact, that I’ve already popped out two first drafts of the twelve in the series.  I’ve been so focused on getting them done, I’ve neglected to start the chain of blogs specifically following my process of writing these twelve books.

Twelve books about the stars, stealing energy, reinventing oneself.  Twelve books about familial bonds, wealth and best friends.  Twelve books that tell a story spanning the length of one year.  Twelve books that keep me up at night, worrying and wondering over major arcs and minor details.  Twelve houses of the zodiac.  Twelve or more dying souls.

Twelve books with titles that will be revealed.  Twelve books in a series that has yet to yield its own name.

Twelve months of my own life given over to these twelve books.  And I’m happy to do it.  It’s a challenge for me and a gift I’ve given to myself.  The gift is the attention to my craft, the belief I have in my abilities to pursue writing as a bona fide career.  Twelve months is scant time spent on art and dedication for many human lifespans.  And it doesn’t feel like nearly enough time to write twelve books.  But I’m game to try.

Twelve first drafts in twelve months.  That’s the goal.  And along the way I’ll be editing, sending manuscripts off to beta readers and proofers.  I’ll be contacting artists to design covers and enlisting people skilled in conversions.  I’ll be stewing over the steps of self-publishing.  I’ll be working for the twelve books and myself.  Until they are all polished and prettified, I shan’t stop.  Can’t stop.

Twelve opportunities to entertain others.  Twelve possible successes.  Twelve impossible failures.  Because as long as I do, I bring these twelve to life, I thrive.  So says my soul.

Welcome along for the process.

  1. Good Luck! or Break A Leg?! or whatever you suppose to say to authors… I mean it.
    How can I help?

How many pages shall those books have?… 12?
or will they be counted by words?… 12?
In which case you really have to focus on writing between the lines.
Reading such storytelling is equivalent of being a street smart as opposed to book smart. Not everyone can do it, but the benefits last longer. However, there aren’t many scribblers out there who write for the public who can read between the lines. Are you one of them?

Anyway, sounds like you have a great plan.
Looking forward to read those books. 🙂
